You can also compare the combined amount you would pay on these policies with the total end benefit your charity.

Note: Reflected above are typical premiums for non-smokers who purchase Universal Life Insurance policies that will be paid off within a pre-determined fixed term. These premiums may vary according to the individual's gender, age, health, weight, and if he or she smokes. A medical is required to qualify to purchase this type of insurance. The maximum age to qualify for this fully underwritten insurance is 85.

Examples of premiums on  non-medical  insurance policies

Non-medical insurance is an option for donors who do not wish to take a medical to qualify for a gifted insurance policy. It is also an option for some who have been previously turned down for insurance in the past. This type of policy can offer lower monthly policies than insurance policies that are paid off over a defined period of time, but premiums usually must be paid for the life of the donor. Policies of this type range from $10,000 to $75,000, and are unavailable to anyone 81 or older. To see if you qualify for non-medical insurance,  click here.

Gifts of Insurance are Tax-Smart Donations

Remember: When you make your charity the owner of the policy, your charity will annually send you a charitable tax receipt for the full value of your premiums. In Ontario, you will receive a tax credit worth about 40% of the total value of your premiums!
